The Unicorn Who Forgot How to Sparkle
In the Glimmering Glen, where rainbows grew like flowers and the rivers ran with liquid starlight, every unicorn sparkled. All except one. Stardust, the youngest unicorn in the glen, had woken up one morning to find that her horn had gone completely dark. No sparkle. No shimmer. Nothing.
"Something is wrong with me," Stardust whispered, hiding behind a waterfall so the others wouldn't see. That's where Miriam found her — a small child who had wandered into the glen while chasing a butterfly.
"Why are you hiding?" Miriam asked gently. Stardust explained everything — how her sparkle had vanished, how she was sure the other unicorns would laugh, how she felt broken. Miriam listened carefully, then said something Stardust would never forget:
"Maybe your sparkle didn't disappear. Maybe you just stopped believing it was there."
Stardust blinked. "What do you mean?" Miriam sat down in the soft grass. "Sometimes I feel like I can't do anything right. My drawings aren't as good as other kids'. My reading is slower. But my mom says that believing in yourself isn't about being the best — it's about knowing you're enough, exactly as you are."
Stardust closed her eyes. She thought about all the things she loved — galloping through meadows, making dandelion wishes, singing to the moon. And slowly, so slowly, a tiny light flickered at the tip of her horn. Then it grew. And grew. Until she was the brightest unicorn in the entire glen.
"You did it!" Miriam cheered. Stardust nuzzled Miriam's cheek. "No," she said. "We did it. You reminded me of something I forgot — I was always sparkling. I just needed to believe it."
Talk about it
Stardust remembered she was always enough, even when she couldn't see it.

Why did Stardust's horn lose its sparkle?
It didn't really lose it—she just stopped believing in herself. Once she remembered her own worth, the sparkle came back.
How can I help my child if they feel like they're not good enough?
Listen without trying to fix it right away. Help them see their strengths and remind them that being themselves is enough. Sometimes a gentle question like Miriam asked helps more than advice.
