Emma and the animals of Courage
Deep beneath the Whispering Mountains, there lay a cavern that nobody dared enter. They said a magical animals lived there — one that could grant the power of speaking truth to anyone brave enough to face the three trials within.
Emma stood at the entrance, lantern in hand, heart thumping like a drum. "You don't have to go in," said their best friend, Rowan, who was shaking like a leaf. But Emma took a deep breath and stepped inside.
The first trial was the Hall of Echoes, where every fear Emma had ever felt was whispered back in the darkness. Fear of the dark. Fear of being alone. Fear of failing. But Emma kept walking, humming a lullaby their mother used to sing, and the echoes softened into silence.
The second trial was the Bridge of Trust — a thin rope stretched over a bottomless chasm. Emma had to cross without looking down. Step by step, eyes fixed on the light ahead, they made it to the other side. And there, in a chamber glowing with warm amber light, stood the magical animals, small and luminous.
"You've already found what you came for," it said gently. "Courage isn't the absence of fear — it's walking forward even when you're afraid. And speaking truth is the compass that guides you." Emma smiled, because they knew it was true. They returned home not with a magical power, but with something far more precious — the knowledge that they were braver than they ever imagined.
