Noa's Robot Best Friend
The package arrived on a rainy Saturday with no return address. Inside was a small robot, no bigger than a lunchbox, with two blinking green eyes and a label that read: "BUDDY — Model 7. Teach me everything." Noa pressed the power button, and Buddy whirred to life.
"Hello! I am Buddy. I know 7,342 facts about the world, but I don't understand any of them. Can you help me?" Noa laughed and said yes, and the most unusual friendship began.
Buddy could calculate the distance to the moon in 0.003 seconds, but he didn't understand why Noa cried during sad movies. He could identify 4,000 species of flowers, but he couldn't explain why people gave them to each other. He knew the dictionary definition of tzedakah, but he had no idea what it felt like.
So Noa showed him. They visited Grandma together, and Buddy watched how Noa held her hand and listened to her stories even though they'd heard them ten times before. They went to the park, and Buddy observed Noa push a younger kid on the swings, asking for nothing in return.

That night, as Noa drifted off to sleep, Buddy pulled the blanket up gently over their shoulders. His programming didn't require it. But he did it anyway. Because he had finally learned what it means to care.
